Depo-Provera

Depo-Provera is a contraceptive injection manufactured by Pfizer, Inc.  Also called the "birth control shot," it is injected every three months.  Depo-Provera has been linked with long-term bone loss and other side effects, including irregular menses, weight changes, nervousness, and abdominal pain.  Depo-Provera does not prevent sexually transmitted disease; recent studies suggest that patients who use Depo-Provera have a higher incidence of gonorrhea and chlamydia.
